尼伯特颱風8日上午5時50分於台東太麻里登陸，根據台東氣象站觀測數據，台東地區瞬間風速達到17級，寫下百年以來新紀錄，市區也因強風吹襲導致滿目瘡痍。
尼伯特颱風暴風圈8日凌晨籠罩台東地區，瞬間風速達到每秒65公尺，相當於17級陣風，創下台東氣象站成立以來最大風速紀錄。根據網友分享影片，台東地區的風雨驚人，不時還有鐵皮飛過。台東當地居民表示，凌晨4時至6時颱風登陸之際風雨最強，住家玻璃遭吹破，樹也不堪強大風力被吹倒，周遭地區電力中斷，災情慘重。
氣象局表示，根據最新的颱風路徑，暴風圈應該還會停留在台灣陸地上一段時間，最快要到今天下午後，中心才會脫離台灣陸地。而隨著中心出海進入台灣海峽，中南部的雨勢會再增強，當地民眾必須留意。
